Sunshine Coast: Gibsons What seems like another breathtaking island getaway is actually a part of the lower mainland. Accessible only by ferry or air, this strip of quiet beaches, cedar forests, hiking trails, summer cottages, and artist colonies is just two hours from Vancouver. The Sunshine Coast is home to one of the highest per-capita populations of artists in Canada. Many of the galleries in Gibsons are situated around Gibsons Landing, the historic waterfront overlooking the town’s marina and working harbour.  A good starting point is Molly’s Reach on School Road, which once served as a set for the hit CBC TV series “The Beachcombers”. Easy to spot by its yellow false-front facade next to the Gibsons harbour (also known as Gibsons Landing) where your super yacht will dock, Molly’s specializes in fish and chips with locally brewed ale batter. Just below Molly’s, Smitty’s Oyster House lures seafood lovers with locally caught oysters, mussels, and claims a diverse international wine list in a communal atmosphere.   Imagine crisp white BC wine paired with fresh, local seafood as you gaze over the vivid bustling marina and ask yourself…”am I dreaming”…
